This is Fabulous Mask with Silver Repousse Over a Wood Mask with Turquoise and red Stones. Tibetan Jewelry uses a technique called "Repoussé", which is from the French, meaning roughly "pushed up from behind". The technique involves pushing a silver surface outward from behind to create a three dimensional effect on the surface of the metal. Then, a technique called "chasing" is used to work the details of the design on the front, back or outside of the piece to create the final pattern. This mask is a very intricate and detailed silver design. Tibetan masks plays an essential role in traditional Tibetan culture. There are three types of masks: religion mask, Tibetan opera mask and folk dance mask.
