Vintage Awesome Rare 1950s Sailing Ship Motion Lamp “Old Ironsides”

This Vintage Sailing Ship Motion Lamp seems to work by magic, but it’s not. A cylinder with light and dark areas casts a shadow on the translucent printed shade that is printed with several ships. The heat of the bulb causes the inner cylinder to turn with the images casted on the shade to give the illusion of motion. Ok. That’s the science; now, here’s what you’ll see:

* images of the wind blowing on the sails
* the ocean current moving as the ships sail by
* water plowed at the bow of the ship
* faint images of land moving by

There are images of ships on every side of the lamp, so choose your favorite viewing position. Turn on the lamp. And after a few minutes, you’ll see the “magic” motion happen.

These lamps are very hard to find; they often cost over $400. So, this one is priced much lower for Harry’s Vintage customers only! By the way, it’s in excellent condition, too. It’s 10.5 in tall, oval. 7 inches wide, 5 in deep. It is very lightweight. Great as a kid’s nightlight!
